Please note that it is completely unrelated to IE Exploit in which bug was in IE and the flash file(.swf) used for making the attack successful.  But, in this case, the bug exists in the flash player plugin. <br /><br />So, people who use vulnerable version of Adobe Flash player likely to be vulnerable to this attack.<br /><br />If you are using windows or Mac, make sure you have the latest flash player version 13.0.0.206.  If you are using Linux, make sure to update to the latest version 11.2.202.356.<br /><br />This new zero-day flash exploit was spotted as being used in Watering-hole attacks by researchers at Kaspersky Labs in early April.<br /><br />According to <a href="https://www.securelist.com/en/blog/8212/New_Flash_Player_0_day_CVE_2014_0515_used_in_watering_hole_attacks" rel="nofollow" style="color: #003c96;" target="_blank">SecureList</a>, this flash exploit spread from a Syrian Justice Ministry website(jpic.gov.sy).  Researchers believe the attack was designed to compromise the computers of Syrian dissidents complaining about the government.</div>

The locked devices show the following message "Device Hacked by Oleg Pliss" and instructs victims to send $100 dollars to lock404@hotmail.com to unlock their devices.<br /><br />The cyber attack came to light, after one user from Melbourne shared his experience in <a href="https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6270410?start=0&tstart=0" rel="nofollow" style="color: #003c96;" target="_blank">Apple support forum</a> and asked help to fix the problem.  Following his post, several users have reported of being affected by this attack.<br /><br />It appears hackers used stolen Apple IDs and passwords to access iCloud account that allowed them to lock victim's devices and display a message.<br /><br /><b>What you should do? <span style="color: red;">Don't pay the Ransom !</span></b><br />Affected users are advised to contact Apple directly to regain access to their account.  <br /><br />Once you have access to your account, change the password immediately and enable two step authentication feature for your account.</div>

Police says a 40-year-old man from Western Australia has been charged with hacking into Melbourne IT Ltd's computer network in Brisbane and Indonesian government web servers, Australian Broadcasting Corporation <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-22/anonymous-members-arrested-for-hacking-websites/5470968" rel="nofollow" style="color: #003c96;" target="_blank">reports</a>.<br /><br />The 18-year-old man from Penrith was charged with hacking into NetSpeed ISP located in Canberra and ACT Long Service Leave Authority.<br /><br />These two were reportedly involved in several cyber attacks which includes modifying the content of websites and disrupting access to many websites by launching Distributed Denial of service(DDoS) attacks.  These attacks date back to 2012.<br /><br />A number of computer hard drives and other computer equipments from the suspects' house have been seized by Police.  </div>
