This week security researchers from Symentec found Dendroid, new Remote Access Trojan (RAT) specifically designed to target Android devices.

According to the blog post on Symantec, Dendroid, detected by the company’s solutions as Android.Dendoroid, costs $300, amount which can be paid via  Bitcoin or Litecoin. The seller, an individual who uses the code name “Soccer,” promises 24/7 support for his creation.

Dendroid is an HTTP RAT that comes with an application binder package and a complex PHP administration panel.

Some of Dendroid’s promised features:
  • Ability to intercept and block SMS received by the target device
  • Download Pictures from the target device
  • Take and upload photos and videos
  • Download the user’s web browser history and any saved bookmarks
  • Download any other accounts (email, social media, VPN) stored on the device
  • Send texts as the device owner
  • Record any ongoing calls
  • Open a dialogue box to ask for passwords or send messages to the victim
  • Initiate a HTTP flood (DoS) for a period of time
Dendroid buyers also receive what's called an APK binder, which lets them "bind" Dendroid's functionality into the APK, thus creating an app that looks normal on the outside but is full ofmalware on the inside.
